Chavon Ciara is Back!

Hey Rescued Gals!!!

I’m BACK!!!! I know. I haven’t blogged in FOREVER! I’ve had so much going on in my personal life that I admittedly lost my heart. Yes, you read that correctly. The person who encourages you to have a Rescued Heart was hit with blow after blow, challenge after challenge, that she too needed God to step in and rescue her heart.

It happens. I went through such a tough season of disappointments and heart breaks, I honestly didn’t know who Chavon was anymore. I didn’t have any energy to encourage. I needed to be encouraged. I was giving on empty. Have you ever felt that way? Have you ever given so much to people that you are completely exhausted, physically, emotionally, and mentally? You look for help from those people you have given to, but come up short. The reality is that they can’t give you anything because they are takers and don’t know how to give themselves. That’s a totally different blog subject LOL. But, I was there, and I had to get out of that space. I knew and know that there is a call on my life, and I am needed by so many young girls and women, as are you.

So, I bet you’re wondering how I got myself out of the rut. It’s not easy, but here is what I did:

1. I started praying, journaling, and listening to worship music. I know it sounds cliche, and in all honestly, a lot of times I had to force myself to spend time with God. I didn’t feel adequate. I felt like he was mad at me. However, I knew that I would never be able to find answers or recover through my own strength. So, I had to tell my feelings to have several seats and kneel at His feet.

2. Start doing things that you know you are called to do, or do things that make you happy. I have always found pleasure in helping people/ making a difference in someone’s life. Recently, Rescued Hearts got connected to a school, and I am now teaching girls about their worth once a month at an inner city school in St. Louis. Talk about a blessing from God. The girls are amazing and I am so happy for the open door. I also started coaching cheerleading at my old high school, Hazelwood West. This is so dear to my heart because I was a cheerleader there, and I always told God I wanted to go back to coach. He opened the door, and now Rescued Hearts can help even more girls. My advice: find what you are passionate about or what makes you happy and start doing it!

3. Take a social media break. Sometimes social media can make you feel like you are so behind in life. It seems like everyone is in their “winning” season. First of all, most of those people are stunting for the gram, and trying to get likes. However, this can be exhausting when you feel like nothing is going right in your life. Sometimes you need to take a break, and get perspective. Water your grass and count your blessings.

4. Work out. I slacked off in this area a little bit, but endorphins make you happy. Try it.

5. Force yourself to do one thing each day that will make you better. Read a book, read the Bible, write out goals, do one thing to start your business, take a nice long bath. Do something for you daily!

I missed y’all, and I’m so happy to be back. I look forward to continuing this Rescued journey with you.

Cheers to a Rescued Heart ,

Chavon Ciara
