New Year, New You?

Every New Year people all over the world make new declarations, and New Year resolutions. At the beginning of every year, people are on a quest to become better a person, but a few months into the year they find themselves in the same state they were in last year. So what’s the problem? It’s simple. The year has changed, but the person hasn’t. You can’t take the same bad habits, issues, and thought processes into the New Year and expect to get different results. I once heard someone say, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting to get different results.” It just doesn’t work. That saying goes for you too! You can’t expect to be the same person you were this time last year and get different results in the New Year. It just won’t work.

The Bible tells us in Romans 12:2 (KJV), “Be ye transformed by the renewing of the mind.” This scripture purely means to change the way you think. There were bad habits, relationships, and mindsets that were holding you captive in 2014. It’s time for you to change that in 2015. Change can come simply by changing the way you think. Tell yourself: “I deserve better”; “I will not fall into the habits of last year”; “I will work toward making my dreams and goals become reality”; “I will not be lazy.” Whatever it is, speak to yourself and make a commitment to changing how you think. TODAY!
You may be saying, Chavon it’s already day 12 of the New Year and I have already resorted to the old habits. THAT’S OKAY! What people tend to forget is that they don’t need a new year for a fresh start; every day is a fresh start! Lamentations 3: 22-23 (ESV) tells us that, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.” Every morning that the Lord allows you to wake up is a day that you can be great; a day to closer to fulfilling your destiny. Don’t get discouraged if you have fall off course. You still have breath in your body, which means that you still have the chance to do something great and make your dreams come true.
So, Happy New Year, and Happy New You! You are destined to be great. Don’t let the past hold you captive. This year, you can and will CHANGE!
Cheers to a Rescued Heart, and the New You,

Chavon Ciara Williams
